Civil engineering construction and assembly production by construction entities in Poland was worth PLN 57.6bn in 2019, recording an increase of 6.3% that year, while the construction and assembly production of specialised construction works (including, among others, preparing land for construction, building completion and finishing works, as well as electric, water and sewage installations) grew by 11.1% y/y to reach PLN 105bn. In this report, existing infrastructure is divided into transport and energy: Poland had 424.9 thou km of roads in 2019 and operated 19.4 thou km of railway lines, while its airports handled 49mn passengers and its five largest seaports handled 93.3mn tonnes of cargo. Poland’s power generation capacity stood at 50.4 GW in 2020 (with 24.6% accounted for by renewable sources), its transmission network was 15.3 thou km and distribution network 855 thou km long.
