Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank A.D. was registered as a separate legal entity on 30 September, 1992, under the name Kristal Banka A.D. It was transformed into a shareholders’ company on 16 May 1997. Тhe bank changed its name to Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank A.D. in October, 2003 after it was acquired by Austria-based Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank International AG, member of the Hypo Alpe-Adria Group. Hypo Alpe Adria, founded in 1896, is 100% owned by the Republic of Austria and is present in twelve European countries, including Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Germany, Hungary and Ukraine. Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank A.D. is traded on the floor of the Banja Luka Stock Exchange (BLSE). The bank operates a network of over 40 branches serving 200,000 customers nationwide. On 31 October 2016, the Bank changed its name from Hypo Alpe-Adria-Bank d.d.
