The Company s activity is to generate electricity by two gas fired power plants
The principal activity of DEPZ power plant and CEPZ power plant is to generate electricity by gas fired power plants, at Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) with 82 MW capacity and Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) with 72 MW capacity and to sell electricity to the export processing industries located inside DEPZ and CEPZ with the provision of selling surplus power outside the Export Processing Zones (EPZs) after fulfilling their requirement. The Company is also supplying electricity to Dhaka PBS-1 of Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB), Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB), Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone (KEPZ) and other private sector companies. The principal activity of Sylhet 28 MW power plant, Jamalpur 115 MW power plant and Anwara 300MW plant is to generate electricity, to sell such generated electricity to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and has been supplying electricity to the national grid of Bangladesh through selling the same to BPDB under Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between the Company and BPDB.

History:
2007:The Company, formerly known as (Malancha Holdings Ltd. (MHL)), was incorporated in Bangladesh on January 15, 2007 as a subsidiary company of United Group in order to produce and supply electricity.
2009:The Company changed the existing name and style on October 1, 2009 as a Private Limited Company under name United Power Generation Distribution Company Ltd.
2010:The converted into a Public Limited Company by Shares on December 22, 2010.
2015:The Company was listed on Chittingong Stock Exchange on March 8, 2015 and on Dhaka Stock Exchange on March 19, 2015.
The Company changed its year end from December 31 to June 30.
2018:The Company Purchased United Energy Limited United Energy Limited Purchased UNITED ASHUGANG ENERGY LIMITED on July 1, 2018
