Bulgarian foreign trade company and duty-free operator Corecom-Princess is the main successor of former Communist-era foreign trade giant Corecom. The company operates four duty-free shops around the country and sells mostly spirits, tobacco products and perfumery.
In March 1999, Bulgaria's Trade Ministry sold 70% of Sofia-based duty free operator to Liechtenstein-registered Irada Ltd. for USD 8.0 million. Of the remaining 30% of Corecom, 10% was kept for covering property claims by former pre-communist owners and 20% were offered to employees at a preferential price.
Irada's owner Sudi Ozkan owns the Sofia Princess Hotel, the Plovdiv-based Interhotel Trimontsium and is a big player on the local gambling market via his company Aktiv BG.
