Raizen Energia S.A. was established in 2010 through a joint venture between Cosan and Royal Dutch Shell, headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It is an integrated energy company involved in ethanol and sugar production, fuel distribution under the Shell brand (in Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay), and renewable energy generation via sugarcane biowaste cogeneration. Raizen also operates in lubricants, convenience retail through Shell Select and OXXO, and manages over 8,000 Shell fuel stations with approximately 1,700 convenience stores. It employs more than 45,000 people
