Founded in 1949, Grupo ICE is a Costa Rican state-owned holding that controls assets in electric energy generation, transmission and distribution. It also participates in the telecommunications sector. It has a total installed capacity of 1,939.37MW, which represents 79.27% of the total national production. The holding owns 100% of the transmission system of the country and provides energy to 39% of the population. In telecommunications, it has a telephony coverage of 95% of the population. It offers national telephony services through fixed and mobile lines, public pay phones, international telephony and internet connection through ICE Telecomunicaciones.
