Elektrarna Tisova, A.S. (Czech Republic)

Elektrarna Tisova, a.s. is a Czech power generation company and a subsidiary within the Sokolovska uhelna and SUAS Group. The company operates a brown coal fired power plant located near Brezova and Citice in the Karlovy Vary region, producing electricity and heat in combined heat and power mode. Its activities include generation of electricity for the grid and supply of heat for district heating systems serving households and industrial customers in the region, in coordination with other group entities responsible for heat distribution. In recent years the plant has implemented co firing of biomass with coal, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and contributing to the group's transition towards lower emission and, in the longer term, zero emission energy sources. Elektrarna Tisova, a.s. forms part of an integrated energy complex and benefits from common group support in maintenance, investment projects and environmental modernisation. Strategically, the company focuses on maintaining reliable and economically viable supplies of electricity and heat during the transition period of Czech energy, while gradually adapting its technology and fuel mix to tighter environmental requirements and the long term decarbonisation strategy pursued by SUAS Group and regional stakeholders.
