Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Norte S.A. was founded in 1997 when the government acquired the total of shares from the company Union Fenosa. It is a company that is responsible for the distribution and commercilization of electricity in the 14 provinces of the Northern Zone of the Dominican Republic: Santiago, La Vega, Duarte, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Monsignor Nouel, Sanchez Ramirez, Valverde, Santiago Rodriguez, Montecristi, Samana, Salcedo and Dajabon.
