La Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones, commonly known as “CNT EP”, is the public and also main telecommunications company of Ecuador. It offers local, regional and international fixed communications services, as well as satellite television and mobile telecommunications services. The company was created on October 30th, 2008, as a result of the fusion of the already extinct companies – Adinatel S.A. and Pacifitel S.A. As of January 14th, 2010, the company is state-owned and got its current name. Later on, on June 30th, 2010, the company was merged with the mobile service provider Alegro, which permitted further expansion of CNT’s product portfolio.
