Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt. (Hungary)

Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt. (Rail Cargo Hungaria Goods Transport Private Limited Company) was established 1st January 2006 by Magyar Államvasutak Zrt. (Hungarian State Railways Private Limited Company) outsourcing its goods transporting activities. MÁV Cargo Zrt. achieved a market leading position in Hungary by its extended and quality services. In May 2007, MÁV Zrt. and MÁV Vagyonkezelő Zrt. (MÁV Trustee Private Corporation) published a call for proposals in the frameworks of a public two-round tender for the liquidation of the total equity stake held by MÁV Cargo Árufuvarozási Zrt. This process closed when the final privatisation agreement was signed in December 2008. At that point, Austrian state-owned Rail Cargo Austria AG became the new owner of MÁV Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt. The Hungarian company became an important and esteemed member of Europe's third largest rail logistics company, the Rail Cargo Austria Group.
