The Company is engaged in offering products and services, which include house owners comprehensive, motor insurance, basic third party policy, basic motor comprehensive policy, enhanced comprehensive policy, fire and allied perils insurance, consequential loss insurance, workmen compensation insurance, all risks insurance, burglary and house breaking insurance, machinery breakdown insurance, electronic equipment insurance, warehouse insurance, performance/advance payment bonds insurance, money insurance, fidelity guarantee insurance, goods in transit insurance, as well as group personal accident insurance and marine insurance.
The company was incorporated in July 1981 and commenced full operations in 1982 under the name Jubilee Insurance Company Limited. In August 1996, after major transformation of the company in ownership and Management, its name was changed from Jubilee Insurance Limited to Standard Alliance Insurance Company Limited (Standard Alliance) Standard Alliance became a public limited liability company (Plc.) on August 13, 2003 and had its shares listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange on December 19, 2003. Its products include Enhanced Motor Comprehensive Insurance Scheme, Legacy (Personal Education Scheme), Edusecure, The Standard Investment Plan and The Flexible Assurance Scheme S.A. Money is the asset management and brokerage arm of the Company. SA Pension operates as a pension fund administrator. SA Mortgage is engaged in mortgage banking. SA Properties is the real estate development and property trading arm of the Company.
On April 28, 2017, the company merger with its sister company, Standard Alliance Life Assurance Ltd.
The Company during the year successfully merged with its subsidiary Company, Standard Alliance Life Assurance Limited. The merger was concluded and approved by Naitional Insurance Commission on 27 February 2017. The Life Company s transactions for January and February were not material and have been included in the results of the Composite Company for the year ended 31 December 2017.
