Socep SA was founded in the year 1991, as a joint stock company, on the foundations of a existing terminal, specialized in containers and metallurgical industry raw materials handling. As a reorganization of the former General Goods Exploitation Industrial Unit under the Ministry of Transports, where it functioned as a specialized section in decoiling the containers and iron and steel staple. Since 1996 the company is private owned and since November 2005 its shares are listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange Market. In the latest years, SOCEP conclude its transformation in a major operator in the port industry, taking advantage of the optimal management, the skilled personnel, the modern facilities.
