Khartoum Refinery Company Ltd. (KRC) is a Sino-Sudan joint venture, established in 1997 and currently owned by the Sudanese government through the Ministry of Energy & Mining (MEM) and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). The focus of the company is on the production of petroleum products for domestic consumption and their export to the neighboring countries. The refinery has a lot of facilities, the most of which are eight operational units.
