The National Bank of Tajikistan, located in Dushanbe, is the central issuance reserve bank of the Republic of Tajikistan. It is owned by the Republic of Tajikistan and operates under the supervision of the Majlisi Oli Majlisi Namoyandagon (lower chamber of Parliament). As an independent legal entity, the National Bank of Tajikistan has the authority to establish institutions and acquire necessary property for its activities. It is not responsible for liabilities of the Republic of Tajikistan without its consent. The government guarantees the protection of the bank's titles and cannot confiscate its property or reduce its statutory fund. The National Bank of Tajikistan operates independently within its legal competence and is not subject to intervention by executive and representative authorities. It has the discretion to open departments and representatives both domestically and internationally. The bank provides banking services to foreign, government, financial, and banking institutions, as well as international institutions where it or the Republic of Tajikistan is a member. The National Bank of Tajikistan is accountable to the Majlisi Namoiandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, which approves appointments and dismissals of the bank's chairman and deputies, reviews annual reports, and audit conclusions.
