Sermaye Piyasasi Kurulu is the capital markets regulatory and supervisory authority of Turkiye. Established in 1981 as an administratively and financially autonomous public institution, it is responsible for regulating and overseeing capital markets to ensure that savings are channelled into securities in a secure, transparent and stable environment. The institution sets and enforces capital market regulations, supervises market institutions and publicly held companies, authorises and monitors intermediaries, manages public disclosure frameworks and protects the rights and interests of investors. It also issues secondary legislation, develops corporate governance principles, administers licensing examinations for capital markets professionals and cooperates with domestic and international regulatory bodies. Strategically, Sermaye Piyasasi Kurulu focuses on strengthening investor confidence, enhancing market transparency and integrity, aligning Turkish capital markets with international standards and supporting sustainable growth of capital formation in the national economy.
