National Gas Co. of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC) was founded in 1975 and is 100% owned by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, operating under the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries. NGC has been instrumental in transforming Trinidad and Tobago into a global leader in natural gas-based development. The company helped shift the country’s energy model from oil to gas, enabling the growth of LNG exports, petrochemicals, and heavy industry. In recent years, NGC has expanded its focus to include energy transition and sustainability, launching NGC Green and investing in solar parks, hydrogen, and carbon capture. As of 2024, NGC reported strong financial performance with TT$0.54 billion in after-tax profit for the first nine months of the year. Among its most important products and services are: natural gas transportation and distribution, gas processing and compression, energy trading and marketing, renewable energy and green hydrogen development, carbon capture and utilization, and port and industrial estate management (via subsidiaries).
