Alta Banka A.D. Beograd was established in 1979 as a specialized financial institution for refinancing export credits granted by Yugoslav commercial banks to Yugoslav exporters, as well as for providing export insurance against non-commercial risk.
It is the legal successor of the Export Credit and Insurance Fund, which was founded in 1967.
It was transformed into a shareholding company in 1989 and launched commercial bank operations in October 1997.
