VIRU KEEMIA GRUPP AS, commonly known as VKG is an Estonian oil shale processing industry, headquartered in the city of Kohtla-Jarve in Ida-Viru county. It has been incorporated in 1998, but its predcessor - Esimese Eesti Põlevkivitööstuse AS (First Estonian Oil Shale Industry) has been founded in 1924. The group employs about 1,500 people. VKG group main activities through its subsidiaries are: shale oil production, extraction and transportation, production of heat and power, network services and sales, production of Roclite building blocks, assembly, repair and maintenance of industrial equipment , VKG diesel and cement production.
