HBL was established in Pakistan in 1947 as the first commercial bank. Nowadays, with more than 1,400 branches and customer base of 5 million the bank is Pakistan's largest private bank. HBL operates in 25 different countries, including subsidiaries in UK, Hong Kong, Nepal and Nigeria. The Bank's majority shareholders are the Aga Khan Foundation (AKFED) and the state of Pakistan. HBL branch in Turkey started operating in 1983 in Istanbul. Nowadays HBL Turkey continues to operate with a single branch, offering various banking products and services in the field of corporate finance, providing both cash and non-cash loans, credit and foreign exchange transactions, deposits and money transfers to medium and large-sized companies.
