HSBC México, S.A., Institución de Banca Múltiple, is a major subsidiary of Grupo Financiero HSBC and one of the four largest banking institutions in Mexico. The company was originally founded in 1941 as Banco Internacional, S.A., later known as Bital, and was acquired by HSBC Holdings plc in 2002. Headquartered at Torre HSBC in Mexico City, the bank operates a nationwide network of over 800 branches, 5,200 ATMs, and employs over +13.500 people, offering a full suite of retail, commercial, corporate, and investment banking services, as well as insurance, wealth management, and capital markets solutions. HSBC México is led by Jorge Arce, who serves as Chairman and CEO. The institution is indirectly wholly owned by HSBC Holdings plc, one of the world’s largest banking and financial services organizations, headquartered in London. HSBC México’s most recognized brand is HSBC, under which it has introduced several innovations to the Mexican market, including fixed-rate mortgages, pre-approved loans via ATMs, and charity donation programs integrated into its banking services.
